A couple weeks had passed since Jake and Krista's father had managed to fix the remote, and Jake was nearing nearly 6 months in Krista's body. Jake just wasn't sure yet whether he was ready to turn himself back into "Jake" and revert Krista's personality back to her old self. He wondered if it even mattered anymore –he was happy being Krista, Krista was happy being Jake. Like nothing ever happened. But at the same time, it bothered him that he was keeping this horrible secret to himself.
He knew he'd have to come clean eventually –but when?
Jake got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. His mind journeyed through the experiences of the last few months and how it felt to be his sister.
A feeling of nostalgia and excitement washed over him, as the warm water cascaded down his body. It felt just like the first time he'd showered in her body ...a lifetime ago.
A surge of emotion bubbled up inside him as he thought about how different things could have been if they hadn’t switched bodies. Maybe he would have gotten a chance to really get to know his sister? As much as he had grown accustomed to being her, he missed having conversations with her as himself.
He stood in front of the mirror, his face glistening from the hot water, and saw Krista staring back at him.
He'd be in her body forever if he didn't do something about it.
He thought of how it would feel to stay that way –to actually be his sister, permanently a woman.
Without a doubt, her life was perfect.
Or was it?
He turned the water off and dried himself off, returning to Krista's room. He sat on the bed and looked around at the things that would have to change if he did decide to stay Krista –how he would want to make it his own.
So it seems the question is, does he want to make Krista's life his own. It makes me slightly melancholy that there is no longer a copy of Krista'a personality around any more.
