Time is of the Essence - Finale

A few years had passed since Kyle and Eddy had time traveled into their parents’ bodies, and Kyle was still struggling to leave the experience behind.

Kyle sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the photo album in his lap. His fingers traced over an old picture of his parents from their college days. His mom's auburn curls, his dad's familiar smile - it was all so vivid in his memory.

He knew Eddy didn’t care anymore. He had moved on a long time ago.

Quietly, he made his way to the attic. The old box was still there, tucked away in a corner. With trembling hands, he opened it and pulled out Jeff's device.

He took a deep breath, his finger hovering over the activation button.

"I'm sorry, Eddy," he whispered, "But I have to do this, whether you’re coming with me or not."

He pressed the button. There was a blinding flash of light, and then...

Cara blinked, disoriented. She was standing in her college dorm room, her auburn curls falling around her face. She looked down at her hands –young, smooth, feminine. A smile spread across her face.

She moved to the mirror. Those freckles across her nose, the curve of her hips, the swell of her breasts.

Cara ran her hands over her body, relishing the familiar curves and softness.

Cara's heart raced as she took in her reflection. She was back in her mother's body, but at an earlier point in time. The dorm room around her confirmed it - this was before she had met David, before their relationship had begun.

A mix of emotions washed over her. Relief at being back in the body that felt right, excitement at the chance to live this life again, but also a twinge of sadness. David - Eddy - wasn't here this time. She was alone.

But maybe that was for the best. This time, she could live this life fully as Cara, without the complications and guilt that had plagued her before. She could make her own choices, forge her own path.

A knock at the door startled her from her reverie.

"Cara? You in there?" A male voice called out.

Her heart leapt. David. But no... not David. Not yet. This was before they'd fallen in love, before they'd become who they were meant to be.

She opened the door to find a young man standing there, looking slightly nervous. It took her a moment to place him -this was David before he became the man she loved.

"Hey," he said with an awkward wave. "We're, uh, supposed to be working on that chemistry project together. Remember?"
