Time is of the Essence - Part 5

“This was a good idea, Eddy. Going to the beach and all,” Kyle stretched out on the beach towel, feeling the warm sun on his skin.

He glanced over at Eddy, who was lying next to him, eyes closed behind sunglasses.

"Yeah, we needed a break from... everything," Eddy agreed, "It's nice to just relax for once."

Kyle nodded, watching the waves roll in. For a moment, he could almost forget the bizarre situation they were in. But then he caught sight of his unfamiliar, feminine hands and the illusion shattered.

"Do you ever forget?" Kyle asked softly. "That we're not really them?"

Eddy was quiet for a long moment before responding. "Sometimes.”

"It's nice to pretend we're just a regular couple on vacation," Kyle mused, then immediately tensed as he realized what he'd said.

Eddy was quiet for a moment before responding, "Yeah, it kind of is."

Kyle rolled onto his side to face Eddy, studying his brother in their father's body, "Hey... do you want to go for a swim?"

Eddy turned to look at him, a small smile playing on his lips, "Sure, that sounds nice."

They stood up, brushing sand off their bodies. Kyle was acutely aware of the way the bikini clung to his curves as they made their way to the water's edge.

The cool waves lapped at their feet as they waded in. Kyle shivered slightly, goosebumps rising on his skin. Eddy reached out and took his hand, intertwining their fingers.

"Is this okay?" Eddy asked softly.

Kyle nodded, giving Eddy's hand a gentle squeeze. They ventured deeper into the water, until it was up to their chests. The gentle waves rocked them back and forth.

Kyle turned to face Eddy, wrapping his arms around Eddy's neck. The water buoyed them gently as they held each other close.

"This is nice," Kyle murmured, resting his head on Eddy's shoulder.

Eddy's hands settled on Kyle's waist, his thumbs tracing small circles on Kyle's skin, "Yeah, it is."

They stayed like that for a long moment, swaying gently with the waves. Kyle could feel Eddy's heart beating steadily against his mother’s breasts, pressed up against him.

Slowly, Kyle lifted his head to meet Eddy's gaze. Their faces were mere inches apart. Kyle's eyes flicked down to Eddy's lips, then back up to his eyes.

"Eddy," Kyle whispered, “Call me Cara.

Eddy's eyes widened slightly, but he nodded. "Okay... Cara," he said softly, testing out the name.

Kyle - now Cara - felt a shiver run through him at hearing his mother's name. It felt both wrong and strangely right.

"And you're... David," Cara whispered, using their father's name.

David nodded, his grip tightening slightly on Cara's waist. "Cara," he murmured again, his voice low and husky.

Slowly, David leaned in, giving Cara plenty of time to pull away. But Cara didn't move, instead tilting his head up to meet David's lips.
