Curiosity

I had never meant for this to happen. To swap bodies with my own wife, Sarah, mother to our children.

It all started with that ridiculous old relic I found at the flea market—a carved amulet that promised wishes, emotions entwined in its intricate design. I thought it was nothing more than a conversation starter, a curious piece to adorn our living room.

Now, as I gazed into the mirror and saw my wife's reflection staring back at me, her long hair cascading down my shoulders, I felt a wave of panic wash over me. My heart raced as I remembered the laughter we had shared just hours ago over breakfast, our children’s gleeful chaos surrounding us. Now, here I was—her face distorted by confusion and fear.

“Jake?” Sarah, in my body, called from outside the door, “Can I come in?”

“Uh, yeah, come in,” I replied, my voice higher and softer than I was used to.

The sound of it sent a shiver down my spine.

The door creaked open, and Sarah entered, her expression a mirror of my own panic, “The kids are watching cartoons now. This is so crazy. We’re …each other. It’s kind of …cool.”

"But it's not cool, Sarah!" I exclaimed, taking a step back and clutching the edge of the sink, “We have to figure out how to change back!”

“I know! But maybe we can use this to our advantage for a bit?” Her impish smile flickered across my face, a stark contradiction to the unease pooling in my stomach.

“Advantage?” I shot back, “What about the kids? They’ll notice something’s wrong.”

“They’re still little,” she mused, her brow furrowing in thought, “They won’t understand. Maybe if we keep everything normal for now…”

I stared at her, “You’ve always been curious, haven’t you?”

“Haven’t you? I mean, look at yourself! You’re a woman now, Jake. You can finally feel up my tits whenever you want,” she teased.

“Maybe you’re right,” I brought my hand to her chest, feeling the soft curve of her breasts through the fabric of her shirt.

“Jake, what are you doing?” Sarah asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.

“What? You said I could...” I replied with a smirk.
