Gabe and Pete lay panting on the bed.
“Are you okay?” Gabe asked.
Pete blinked, disoriented.
“I… I don’t know,” he admitted, pushing himself up on one elbow, “What have we done?”
“We just had the most …incredible sex,” Gabe replied, a satisfied smile creeping across his face as he looked at Pete.
“Gabe, you’re my best friend. You– You finished inside of me…”
“Hey, you were the one moaning, ‘come inside me’.”
Pete's cheeks flushed crimson, “I didn’t mean it like that! I was caught up in the moment…”
Gabe chuckled, “Sure, sure. But admit it, it felt good, didn’t it? You can’t deny it.”
Pete's body tensed as Gabe's lips pressed against his. He had never been attracted to men before, but in Talia's body, everything was different. Gabe deepened the kiss, his tongue intertwining with Pete's. Pete couldn't help but respond, his body reacting to the touch of Gabe's lips and hands on his skin.
“I love you,” Gabe whispered instinctively.
“Wait, what?” Pete pulled back, eyes wide with shock.
“I– uh… I don’t know why I said that —I just got caught up in… everything,” Gabe stammered, his cheeks flushing as he realized the weight of his words.
“You really miss her, don’t you?”
Gabe nodded silently.
“You know, if it makes it any easier, I can pretend to be Talia for a little longer. I could help you feel closer to her,” Pete offered hesitantly, unsure of where this strange path was leading them.
Gabe's eyes lit up with a mix of hope and disbelief, “You’d do that?”
“Of course, babe,” Pete cooed, channeling Talia’s playful spirit, “Just …talk to me.”
“I just miss the way she used to laugh, the way she would curl up next to me on the couch after a long day. It’s like… I can’t touch that part of her anymore.”
“I can do that,” Pete said softly.
“I don’t want to push you into anything uncomfortable.”
“It’s already uncomfortable,” Pete replied with a half-smile, but he shifted closer, “Tell me about …me.”
Gabe chuckled, his tension easing ever so slightly, “Well, for starters, you have this adorable habit of biting your lip when you’re deep in thought.”
“Like this, you mean?” Pete playfully bit his lip, trying to mimic the way Talia would do it.
“Exactly like that. And then there’s that little laugh you do…”
“Like this?” Pete let out a light, airy laugh, trying to mimic Talia's playful tone.
Gabe's eyes softened at the familiar sound, “Yes! That’s it! It’s just… you know, she …I mean you do that when you’re nervous or excited. It makes me feel so—”
“Connected?” Pete interjected, shifting closer, touching their foreheads together, “Tell me more about what we do together.”
“We like to go for late-night ice cream runs,” Gabe continued, a nostalgic smile creeping onto his face, “You always pick mint chocolate chip, while I go for cookies and cream. We argue over who had the better choice, but secretly, I just love watching you get so animated over it.”
A blush crept onto Pete’s cheeks, “That sounds nice. Wanna go now?”
“Now? You really want to?”
“Why not? It’s a perfect night for it.”
