Housewife - Part 6

I finally returned to Zoe’s place.

The apartment was eerily quiet when I returned, the silence broken only by the sound of Dan's worried pacing. The moment I stepped through the door, his head snapped up, relief flooding his features.

"Zoey! Where the hell have you been?" His voice cracked with concern, "I woke up and you were gone. The kids were asking for you."

I stood there, clutching Zoey's purse to my chest like a shield. What could I possibly say?

"I... needed to clear my head."

Dan stepped closer, his eyes searching mine, "You could have left a note. I was about to call the police."

"I'm sorry," I mumbled, the words feeling hollow.

He pulled me into an embrace, and I stiffened, still not used to the feeling of his arms around me. His body felt strange against Zoey's, the height difference making me feel small and vulnerable in ways I wasn't used to.

"What's going on with you?" he asked, pulling back to look at me, "Is there something you're not telling me?"

I felt bad for the guy.

I met his gaze, "No, Dan. Everything’s fine. I’m sorry. I just had to go to the pharmacy. Sorry.”

Dan's face softened, and he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. The gentle intimacy of the gesture made me flinch.

Dan sighed, a mix of frustration and relief, "Please don't disappear like that again. For the kids' sake. For mine."

"I won't," I promised.

Permanent.

How could she do this? How could she just take my life like it was nothing more than a trade-up? And how could I ever learn to live hers?

I felt sick with guilt at having pleasured myself with her body last night. That witch.
