“Come on, Emma. You know I didn’t want to become Grandma,” Josh (12) laughed, “Don’t be a sourpuss just cause you ended up in Great Uncle Alan’s body.”
“I knew this time-travel family swap thing was a bad idea,” Emma (16) brewed, “Now we’re stuck in the 60s. I’m a little boy, and you’re, Grandma when she was 17!”
Josh glanced down at his new form, clad in a delicate white top and form-fitting plaid pants, “I can’t believe I’m older than you now, sis!”
His gaze lingered on his chest.
“Ugh, stop staring!” Emma buried her boyish face in her hands, partly from frustration but mostly from mortification.
"What? I have boobies now!" Josh reached out to prod at his new body, fascinated and playful in his discovery.
"Would you quit that?" Emma groaned, but Josh was poking at his new curves, an amused grin plastered across his face.
“Unbelievable!” he crowed, astonished, “I’ve got a lady’s body!”
He twirled around, looking over his shoulder to better admire his full figure, his enthusiasm bubbling over. He clasped his face in ecstasy only to go back to examining his form with even more vigor.
"I’m the big sister! I’m the big sister!” Josh teased, hopping up and down.
“Ugh, I don’t think I can deal with this for the whole summer…”
“Hey you two,” their parents entered the kitchen, now in the children’s great-grandparents’ younger bodies, “How are you dealing with all of this? Sorry about the mix up, with you two being in the wrong bodies and all.”
“I was supposed to be Grandma, Mom!” Emma whined.
“Just give it a day or two, Emma. You might even learn to like being a boy,” their father said.
Their mother exchanged a knowing glance with their father, “Well, just think of all the adventures you can have. You’re in a different time! Use this to your advantage.”
“Yeah, Emma!” Josh gleamed.
“How are you holding up, Josh?” their mother prodded.
“Oh, Mom! I can’t wait to be the big sister! I’ve never been the big sister before!” Josh kicked his feet out and did a twirl, flaunting his new girlish form.
“Oh, isn’t it all so charming?” their mother smiled, her eyes sparkling with nostalgia, “You both are experiencing a wonderfully different time!”
